This new album, Barbra Streisand's first in two years, features the iconic American singer performing songs with lyrics exclusively by the songwriting duo Alan and Marilyn Bergman. The Bergmans are considered giants of the 20th-century pop song scene, with their lyrics having been hits for big names like Frank Sinatra and Judy Collins. Streisand's relationship with the Bergmans also spans many years. This time, she has newly recorded Bergman numbers she had never previously covered. The album begins with The Windmills of Your Mind, composed by Michel Legrand for the film The Thomas Crown Affair, and includes Solitary Moon (famous for Shirley Horn's rendition) by her friend Johnny Mandel, Nice 'n' Easy (famous for Sinatra's rendition), Samba de Orfeu by Sergio Mendes, and What Matters Most composed by Dave Grusin and sung by Kenny Rankin, among a total of 10 tracks. Disc 2 also features 10 tracks from Streisand's past catalog, all with lyrics by the Bergmans.
