As dictated by the [display datasheet](https://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Components/YSD-1600AR6F-89.pdf), each segment must be limited to 20mA. To use this display you will need a 12V supply and current limiting resistors on each segment. Your power supply should be rated for a minimum of 160mA for each digit in your overall display. For example, a 4 digit display will work nicely with a 12V/1A supply.
